Art.hro.poda is a creature who relies on a modular suit that morphs, detaches and reconfigures
itself in order to adapt to changing environments. The three performances to date of Art.hro.poda (Peripatetic, Exoskeletal and Cognigestion) are qualified by an adjective that describes a characteristic of arthropods.
Since moving to El Paso in August, 2007, I have been inspired arthropods’
outstanding adaptability perfected over thousands of years which uses
a hard exoskeleton, segmentation, and jointed appendages. The physical
characteristics of arthropods could be seen as desirable for humans in
the face of increasing non-voluntary displacement, voluntary nomadism
and climate change.
