Bio.domo.sis is an open air greenhouse attached to a farm.cycle (a farm stand that can be pulled by a bicycle). Built from bamboo, tent poles, connectors, fabric, a bicycle and trailer, Bio.domo.sis features vertical, upside down, hydroponic and wearable gardens. Most of the materials used in Bio.domo.sis are recycled, reclaimed, renewable and/or organic.
Why not wear a garden? At Bio.domo.sis live herb plant hats were housed in water containers and could be worn by inserting a shower cap. Vertical gardens were also built inside large bamboo poles and coffee bean sacks, while upside down gardens were grown in a variety of found plastic containers. The hydroponic garden, made from recycled water bottles is inspired by ourwindowfarms.com an online R+DIY (research and do-it-yourself) initiative developed by Britta Riley.
Bio.domo.sis was made possible by a grant from the Museum and Cultural Affairds Dept. of El Paso, Tx.
